HDP Izmir Provincial co-chair Berna Çelik told ANF that they will hold a rally in Izmir on 12 May to build a democratic republic, expand the women's freedom struggle, and raise the demand of all peoples and beliefs.
The HDP is organized in 27 districts in Izmir, said Çelik, adding: "When we started working for the 14 May elections, we began to carry out joint work both in the districts where the Green Left Party is organized and in the whole HDP. We started our election campaigns with one voice and one slogan. During this election campaign we held many public meetings. We have been canvassing around the city as well and we also had meetings with women's organizations. Likewise, our youth organization is working hard for this election."
Pointing out that the upcoming elections are very important, Çelik said: "We are receiving very positive reactions from the people who saw that we didn’t leave them without an option. Therefore, it is our duty to send the Green Left Party to the Parliament with a strong number of deputies."
Çelik said: "Our parties were closed before but we were always able to provide society with an option. The Green Left Party is a product of these efforts. It is a party in which all peoples and faiths can see themselves represented. We need to strengthen the Green Left and ensure a representation of more than 100 deputies."
Çelik underlined that they will hold the final rally in Izmir calling on people to vote for the Green Left Party and so begin to build a new democratic republic, expand the women's freedom struggle, and raise the demand of all peoples and beliefs. "We will be at Gündoğdu Square on 12 May, at 5.30pm. This is an important election for us. We invite all our people to our rally."
