Çelik: Those who impose the isolation will answer for it

HDP MP Tuma Çelik stated that the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan must end at once and added: “This is a crime. One day they will answer for it.”

The apathetic approach to any and all steps taken to lift the aggravated isolation conditions imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues. The lawyers’ 784th appeal was rejected yet again with the usual reasons, and HDP’s appeals received no response at all. The Kurds’ concerns about Öcalan’s health and safety under isolation grows every day, as does their protest.

HDP Mardin MP Tuma Çelik said their party is a project formed by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan so all peoples, identities and cultural and religious entities in Turkey can live together: “HDK and HDP projects were the most successful among the all efforts in this framework. The success of this project is related to both it encompassing all of Turkey and the theses Mr. Öcalan has put forth.”

“WE SEE PEOPLE ARE DISTURBED BY THE ISOLATION”

Çelik stressed that holding a leader who wants to bring the diversity in Turkey together and demands peace and democracy under such pressure is in no way acceptable: “Thus we as a party don’t accept such an isolation in any way. In this context, we do all we can. We are working to end this isolation through various commissions and areas.”

Çelik said Öcalan hasn’t met with anybody since April 5, 2015 and added that nobody has ever heard from him since the meeting with his family on September 11, 2016: “This is a leader of a people, who is working to develop peace, democracy and freedom in Turkey. The Kurdish people don’t accept this current situation. We can see that our people in Europe and our peoples here are disturbed by this. There is severe censorship over the media in Turkey, but we can see that people are disturbed when we are working. The struggle must be increased so the situation does not go on.”

“ALL PARTIES TO THIS CRIME MUST TAKE A STEP BACK”

Çelik stressed that the isolation is neither humane nor conscientious and concluded by saying: “There is no basis for the isolation. Thus, those who made this decision must roll it back at once. This is more a crime than a wrongdoing.

They can’t remain in power forever and rule over everything. All parties to this crime must take a step back, because one day they will have to answer for it. The greatest dictators in the world, all the oppressive systems and regressive structures have been held to account one day. This government will too.”
