Öcalan Library Bus tour ends in Strasbourg

The Öcalan Library Bus ended its European tour with a rally in Strasbourg, France.

The bus tour appealing for Öcalan’s freedom, called “Öcalan Library – freedom for Öcalan and all political prisoners”, had started its tour on 9 October in Strasbourg.

After four weeks of activities in Germany, Austria, France, Belgium and the Netherlands the bus returned to the French city.

Kurds in Strasbourg greeted the activists with a car convoy at the city border. Activists held Öcalan posters and PKK flags throughout their route to the meeting place in front of the Council of Europe.

Hundreds gathered for the final meeting of the bus activists and chanted “Biji Serok Apo”, “Freedom for Ocalan” and “CPT to Imrali”.

Co-chair of KCDK-E, the umbrella organization of Kurdish associations in Europe, Fatos Goksungur thanked all the participants of the tour and said that the tour was a success despite provocation attempts by Turkish fascists.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Tugba Hezer called for an end to isolation on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, saying; “For freedom, equality and justice the Imrali isolation should end. We, as Kurds and women, will continue to resist against fascism.”

The meeting ended with “Biji Serok Apo – Long live leader Apo” chants.

The purpose of the bus tour was to introduce Öcalan’s ideas and views to the European public. Among the participants are activists from various countries like Italy, Germany, France and Uruguay.
