HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Urfa MP Ömer Öcalan stated that the Kurds are aware of their responsibilities to resolve problems and to retrieve their rights. He added that they would work harder during the election campaign.

In an interview with ANF, Öcalan remarked that many identities, faith groups and minorities rallied around the Green Left Party, adding that his party would put emphasis on unity in diversity for the upcoming elections. “We think that we will play a key role in the Parliament for the democratic solution of the Kurdish question, the freedom of thought and faith and dozens of related problems in the upcoming period.”

Öcalan pointed out that the country’s fate cannot be left to two power blocs. He continued: “Since this country is struggling with burning issues, it will not be stuck between two electoral alliances. We will build the Third Way and deepen our politics further. We will do everything we can to unite all our peoples around democratic values. We represent various groups in the country. We are aware of our role and mission to democratize this republic, to recognize the Kurdish identity and language and to solve many other issues. We will fulfil this mission thoroughly and we will continue our efforts at our best.”
