Actions in solidarity with hunger strikers in 5 cities

Isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was protested with actions in Hamburg, Cologne, Freiburg Mannheim and Basel.

Activists organised actions to support the hunger strike resistance led by DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven.

Hamburg

At the rally held at Hamburg Central Railway Station, a poster chain was created with the photos of the hunger strikers.

Anja Flach, a German writer and activist who gave a speech at the rally, said that the isolation of Öcalan is unlawful and that it is unacceptable.

Mannheim

An action in solidarity with the hunger strike and death fast resistance was organised in Mannheim.

The action was organised jointly by the Ronahi Berivan Women's Assembly and the Kurdish Community Center.

Zozan Serhat spoke on behalf of Ronahi Berivan Women's Assembly and said that the Kurdish people would continue their resistance until isolation is lifted.

Cologne

An event was held in front of the Dom Church in Cologne, to draw attention to the hunger strike resistance.

Street theater was performed to draw attention to the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Women protested the silence of the European institutions.

Freiburg

An information tent was opened in Freiburg to draw attention to the hunger strike resistance. The tent was organised by Nuda Women's Council and the Freiburg Democratic Kurdish Community Center.

Hundreds of leaflets were handed out informing people on the reason of the hunger strike resistance. 

The tent will be opened until tomorrow, Thursday.

Basel

An action in solidarity with the hunger strike resistance was also organised in Basel. 

The action was promoted by the platform of solidarity with hunger strikes and was held in Barfüsserplatz. The people held a sit-in carrying photos of the hunger strikers. 

In their speeches all activists underlined that they will continue the resistance until the isolation is lifted. 

On the other hand it has been disclosed that Kurds and their friends will join new actions today in Geneva and Bern and tomorrow, Thursday, in Zurich to support the hunger strikers and the mothers who have been harassed by police during their actions in favour of their children.
