Mardin Co-mayor Ahmet Türk jailed since his arrest on November 24, 2016 has been released from Elazığ T Type Closed Prison.

Mardin Peace Court of Criminal Jurisdiction has decided for the release of Ahmet Türk, mentioning the illnesses higlighted by a recent Forensic Medicine Institute in response to the lawyers' request for his release due to health problems.

Türk, who was transferred from one prison to another 6 times during his jail time, faces an imposition of judicial control and ban on leaving the country.
