AKP-CHP meeting to solve crisis started

The expected meeting between delegations of the ruling AK party and the opposition CHP to solve the parliamentary crisis has started at the Speaker's Office.

CHP and AKP delegations are meeting today following the call of the Parliamentary Speaker Cemil Çiçek to discuss about possible solutions to the parliamentary crisis. During the meeting, participating senior officials of two parties will be trying to find a common solution for the attitude of the CHP which doesn't take the parliamentary oath due to the ongoing imprisonment of two deputies of the party.

While the meeting doesn't include the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) group which is boycotting the parliament to protest against the ongoing imprisonment of six deputies of the party, BDP Group Chairman Selahattin Demirtas remarked that the agreement to be reached at the meeting of CHP and AKP will not be binding for the BDP in any way. Demirtas added that they will launch a widespread opposition and not go to the parliament if the demands of the Kurdish people continue to be ignored. (B.O.)
