Erciş, the largest province of Van in terms of population, was turned into a big village by the usurpation of trustees. The center and neighbourhoods are in ruins; streets and avenues turned into mud.
On 22 October 2019, a trustee, AKP member Nuri Mehmetbeyoğlu, was appointed to Erciş Municipality, whose local elections were won by HDP. Erciş province, which has a population of close to 300 thousand, is in a very bad situation since the appointment of the trustee.
Erciş trustee suspended all the works of the municipality indefinitely. Road construction, interlocking cobblestone paving and asphalt work in central and rural neighbourhoods have not been carried out.
The streets and avenues have turned into a sea of mud, deep pits and ponds have formed on the roads. The main avenues and streets in the city center of Erciş have also received their share from the trustees.
Although it is the largest district of the Serhat region, the tradesmen have become unable to work due to the potholes, mud and ponds that have formed on the roads in Erciş.
