Anger spreads: Hunger strikes to launch in 6 cities

Support for HDP MP Leyla Guven’s hunger strike against the isolation is spreading. Activists will hold 3-day hunger strikes in 6 provinces.

The imprisoned Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari MP Leyla Guven’s hunger strike is on day 22 today. After Guven went on the hunger strike in the Diyarbakir Type E Prison against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, PKK and PAJK prisoners started a 10-day alternating hunger strike on November 27.

MPS TO JOIN

Activists and HDP MPs will be holding 3-day hunger strikes in Istanbul, Ankara and Mersin on December 2-4 and in Mus, Sirnak and Mardin on December 7-9.

Hunger strikes were held in Adana, Urfa, Van, Amed and Hakkari before to support Guven and the participants announced that demonstrations and activities will continue until the isolation is lifted.
