The mayor of Balveren, Abdurrezak Yýldýz, had been called to Þýrnak to give a statement and found himself sent to prison accused of being "member of an illegal organization".

Yýldýz had been called this morning to the General Police Department officially required to make a statement. He has been taken into custody after giving his statement and sent to Diyarbakýr where he has appeared in front of the prosecutor and then sent to the D Type Prison.

The mayor has been accused of being a member of an illegal organization and of making propaganda for this organization for having taken part to a rally on 15 February 2010. The charge carries a sentence of 7 years in prison. Last week, following house raids, the mayors of Þýrnak Ramazan Uysal, Ýdil Resul Sadak, Silopi Emin Toðurlu had been detained. The mayor of Cizre Aydýn Budak was jailed following the 14 April 2009 so called "KCK" operation.
