Argentina government prohibits dismissal of workers for 60 days

The Fernandez administration has ordered that the mandatory quarantine be extended until 12 April.

Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez has prohibited the layoffs and dismissal of workers for 60 days.

The decision is part of a package of measures aimed at sustaining economic activity amid mandatory quarantine.

More specifically, the decree prohibits dismissals without just cause, dismissals for lack or reduction of work, and dismissals due to force majeure.

The Fernandez administration has ordered that the mandatory quarantine be extended until 12 April.

The measure means that all citizens should remain in their homes unless they have to carry out essential tasks or have to buy basic supplies.
