Workers from Genel-Ýþ Workers’ Confederation held a one day strike to protest against the military operations in the region. Workers did not work on Wednesday in the city of Diyarbakýr and its districts Kayapýnar, Baðlar, Lice, Kulp, Ergani, Çýnar, Hani and Kaygýsýz.

Kurdish students from Bolu Ýzzet Baysal University commemorated Kenan Mak, who was killed by an ultra-nationalist group on May 3, 1998.

Police on Wednesday also send five people on remand, including three students taken into custody during the March 18 protest at the University in Çanakkale.

Diyarbakýr public attorney ordered 16 out of 33 detainees to be officially arrested and sent to Diyarbakýr D Type Prison.

Police took one student in Van, many in Ankara into custody.

Batman Public Attorney ordered 10 Kurds to be arrested and sent to Batman M Type Prison for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization” and ‘being member of an illegal organization.”
