Artists and intellectuals comment on Roboski slaughter

A delegation of artists on 5 January visited the village of Roboski where on 28 December 35 people were slaughtered by Turkish warplanes. Members of the delegation came together in Istanbul and shared their observations during their visit the village of Roboski.

Speaking here, artist Aynur Doðan said that; “These people are suffering a great pain but we can understand only a certain part of their pain. These people are also suffering from different kinds of fears. They not only feel themselves alone and alienated but also fear that they will live the same once again. ‘They don’t love Kurds’, the people of that region cry, pointing out to the rest of the country. I am a Kurd also and the stories that I listened from my grandfather and father all continue today in the same way. What can one say? A poor people are excluded from the society. All they want is to hear the voices of sensitive people from different places of Turkey.”

Artist Ýlkay Akkaya commented the Roboski slaughter as a fiendish murder of people in accordance with the law and added that; “They always do the same. We need to get together and do something since the heart of none of us can bear any further pain. All kings shall die.”
