At least 63 dead and thousands wounded in Iraqi protests

The anti-government protest that started in Iraq again on 25 October entered its third day. 63 people were killed and 2,592 people were injured in the last two days.

The anti-government protest that started in Iraq again on 25 October entered its third day. 63 people were killed and 2,592 people were injured in the last two days.

Clashes between demonstrators, security forces and militia groups were reported.

Protesters are mainly young unemployed people. They blame Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi's government and Iranian-backed Shia militia groups for the continuation of years of poverty.

At least seven protesters died after the Badr Organisation militia shot at demonstrators near their office. 

Protests are being held in Baghdad as well as in Najaf, Karbala, Basra, Mussenna, Missan, Nasiriyah, Zikkar and Babylon.
