Ayna: Decisions made by the state don't represent us

Speaking at the Democratic Autonomy meeting which was organized in Cizre by the Democratic Free Women's Movement (DÖKH) and joined by thousands, BDP Diyarbakýr MP Emine Ayna showed reaction to the statements of state authorities that "The Democratic Autonomy declared by Kurds doesn't count for something".

Ayna said the followings; "self-strength means self-control and self-governance. On the media, everyone is discussing about autonomy but they don't know the context and details of autonomy. Besides, unashamedly they say that "The Democratic Autonomy declared by Kurds doesn't count for something". We are replying to you here; Decisions have been made for Kurds for 90 years now but none of these decisions represented the Kurds. Against these decisions made for 90 years, we will now govern ourself now. Kurds have declared the autonomy for a free equality, a free democracy, a common land, pluralism and a free motherland."

Remarking that Turkey still maintains the mentality of 1924's constitution, Ayna continued as follows; "There were autonomies in this geography before the establishment of the Ottoman state. We choosed the Democratic Autonomy as you insisted on a single language, a single flag and a single nation. Prime Minister says that 'they will no more show a good faith towards us' and I ask him; 'Was it your good faith that made Uður Kaymaz, Doðan Tayboða, Ýbrahim Oruç, Hatice Ýdin and hundreds more lose their lives? Is this what you call a good faith?" What we faced 90 years ago was cruelty, denial, torture and death that we today once more experience in the period of the AKP government. All of us shed our bloods in this land but how can this country belong to the Turks alone? This country belongs to all of us. We are not expecting a good faith from the government but we will get our due, no matter what the cost shall be."

Ayna continued with the followings; "Following the death of 13 soldiers, which was in fact the result of Prime Minister Erdoðan's plan to kill HPG members as a counter to the declaration of the autonomy on July 14, lynching actions were launched against our party and our people. The AKP government, together with its soldiers, police, JITEM and similar operations, is trying to make an end of Kurds. The government should remember that similar attempts were made in the periods of earlier governments who however weren't able to make a success. The meaning of the war is death only that we never have a fear of. You cannot scare us by putting a psychological pressure through your talks on TVs about death because we love freedom so much that we are not afraid to die for it."
