BDP - AKP meeting to resume today

The meeting between the ruling AKP, the Parliament speaker Cemil Çiçek and the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) delegation will resume today. AKP and BDP met yesterday to try and solve the ongoing parliamentary crisis.

The BDP parliamentary group president Selahattin Demirtaþ said yesterday after the first meeting with Çiçek that; "We have talked with the AKP delegation about the ongoing political crisis. Above all, it is important to discuss these problems face to face so to have a better understanding of the mutual intentions and proposals for a solution. We presented our views and after an assessment of our perspectives, we wish to meet again to see what we can do with the AKP group. Even if we can't obtain an agreement, the BDP will continue its discussion on the matter and evaluate the final decision with its commissions."

Stating that they hope to resolve the problem through dialogue, Demirtaþ said, "We have never defined this crisis as an oath-crisis. There exist obstacles in front of democratic politics in Turkey. We are trying to figure out what we can do about these obstacles as the components that make up the Parliament. Should we reach a conclusion, we will all together give strength to democratic politics."
