BDP call for 14 July meeting

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Nusaybin district organization held a public meeting to call for participation in the 14 July meeting in Diyarbakýr.

Preparations are underway for the “Democratic Resistance for Freedom” rally on 14 July which is jointly organized by BDP and DTK (Democratic Society Congress). Public meetings have been held at four sides of the region to call for participation in the meeting where Kurds will declare a road map for the solution of the Kurdish problem.

Speaking at the public meeting in Nusaybin district of Mardin, BDP district co-chair Ayten Kahraman gave information about the preparations and called on the people of the district to ensure a mass participation in the meeting.

In an interview to ANF about the Diyarbakýr meeting, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and Independent MP for Mardin Ahmet Türk drew attention to the importance of the historic meeting and underlined that; “We will not pull back from showing our reactions as long as the AKP maintains its current mentality.”

DTK co-chair also called on the AKP government to see the fact that the isolation on PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan is a “policy of deadlock” and called on deputies in the parliament to become a part of the efforts given for Öcalan and solution of the Kurdish problem.

Türk, remarking that the Kurdish problem won’t come up with a solution unless the AKP government recognizes Kurds as a society with its own laws, said that; “Government officials need to change their point of view and mentality concerning the Kurdish issue because of the fact that a solution will otherwise not be possible by bringing a new constitution or a Kurdish initiative up for discussion or prolonging the isolation on Öcalan.”
