Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirtaþ and Gültan Kýþanak issued a written statement to send their condolences on the loss of 26 security officers in Çukurca district of Hakkari on October 19, Wednesday.
The statement said the followings;
* We say ‘Enough Now’ to this war and these deaths, these pains and the repeating statements of governments that insist on war and don’t produce a solution.
* The government has unfortunately not given a positive reply to the calls and proposals made by civil society organizations, intellectuals, democracy powers and our party for the silence of weapons and the re- initiation of negotiations within the last five months when clashes became active again. On the contrary, the government insisted on war policies saying that "a new period began in the fight against terror”.
* The painful picture today once again shows that Turkey urgently needs peace and it has no option other than peace. It should be the common target of everyone to bring Turkey out of this environment of clashes, stop deaths and initiate the process of peace. We call on both the government and the PKK to immediately stop this war without losing even one more second.
* Our mothers don’t deserve this pain. All of us need to be mobilized for the ending of clashes, the ongoing bloodshed and for Turkey’s evolvement into an honorable peace process. The only way to prevent more pain goes through strengthening the basis for dialogue and negotiation.
* Each lost life should lead us to more peace, not to more war. We urge the government and the Assembly to join hands and to coordinate with an aim to find a whole and fundamental solution to the problem and to really end this deep sorrow.”
