Peace and Democracy Party announced the party's programme for the U.S. visit. According to the official plan, the BDP commission will see Kubat Talabani, Kurdistan Regional Government's representative in Washington, before meeting with Turkey's ambassador Namik Tan and the Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon.
The delegation which includes BDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaþ and Gültan Kýþanak as well as DTK co-chair and Mardin MP Ahmet Türk and Van MP Nazmi Gür, will also meet with some U.S. senators and congressmen, American Bar Association's Center for Human Rights, President of Union of International Advocates and Mayor of San Fransisco.
After attending public meetings in the cities of San Francisco and New York, the delegation will return Turkey on April 28.
On the other hand, President Abdullah Gül, asked how he evaluated BDP’s visit to U.S., said: “As all parties from time to time try to tell Europe and the USA about themselves in a better way, this visit shouldn’t be evaluated as an extraordinary event. Besides, the world public opinion monitors Turkey very closely now. The BDP delegation will also make a visit to Turkey's ambassador there. These visits therefore shouldn’t be seen as strange activities."
