Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Diyarbakýr MP Nursel Aydoðan was sued for joining the funeral ceremony of HPG guerrilla Rýdvan Aktaþ who lost his life in a clash in Bitlis on 18 May 2011.
MP Aydoðan, for whom 15 years imprisonment sentence has been asked, is accused of “committing crime on behalf of an illegal organization despite not being a member of it” and “spreading propaganda for an illegal organization”.
Despite Aydoðan’s lawyers’ demand for the suspension of the trial which was held at Diyarbakýr 5th High Criminal Court, the court board rejected lawyers’ demand on the grounds that legislative immunity cannot be introduced as a cause in consideration of the crimes related with an illegal organization.
The accusation against Aydoðan asks 15 years imprisonment for BDP MP who is claimed to have intentionally joined the funeral ceremony where PKK flags and banners were opened by the mass. The accusation also claims that Aydoðan mentioned the guerrilla as a ‘martyr’ during her statement to Roj TV after the funeral ceremony.
