BDP MP Ayhan transferred to Adana Prison despite critical state of health
Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) detainee Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Urfa MP Ýbrahim Ayhan had a heart spasm during his transfer to Kürkçüler F Type Prison in Adana on 20 July night. Ayhans heart spasm also continued in Adana Prison where he was put in a single cell and denied permission to see anyone.
In a letter to all media organizations, Ayhan MP called attention to his situation and said that he had been subjected to numerous inhuman and unlawful practices in Urfa Prison where he had been held under arrest for a long time because of political works he had performed.
Ayhan MP pointed out in his letter that neither the prison authorities nor the Minister of Justice has paid attention to his demands for the improvement of poor prison conditions that he and many others were subjected to. Ayhan also reminded that responsible authorities have failed to launch a comprehensive investigation into the killing of 13 political prisoners in Urfa Prison who burnt to death in a riot on 16 June.
BDP deputy pointed out that he had been instantly transferred to Adana F Type High Security Prison on 19 July despite the critical health problems he had been suffering that night. It is not acceptable that I and other 10 prisoners were transferred to Adana Prison in a great repression and unlawfulness. The practices imposed on Kurdish prisoners trample on human rights and freedoms and the provisions of law. Prison authorities treat us with hate and hostility because of the fact that they aim to break our democratic stance and reduce us to silence, underlined Ayhan.
BDP deputy ended calling on sensible public opinion to not to remain silent in the face of unlawful treatment against political prisoners and pointed out that the Minister of Justice and prison authorities would be responsible for anything to happen to him.
Ayhan also added that each of the prisoners transferred to Adana Prison is held in single cells and not provided with daily needs.
Ayhans lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingöl who visited her client in Adana yesterday expressed her deep concerns over the transfer and said that Ayhan and other 10 other transferred prisoners arent allowed to see or meet anyone. Lawyer Özbingöl underlined that the transfers dont have a legal ground.
Ayhan MP is reported to be in a good state of health as he has been taken back to prison after receiving treatment at Adana State Hospital.
