BDP office attacked in Istanbul

The lynch attempt made against Kurds after a demonstration in Zeytinburnu neighborhood a few days ago, was repeated last night in Veliefendi Neighborhood where hundreds of people attacked the BDP district building chanting racist slogans.

The social unrest of the Kurdish citizens living in Zeytinburnu is increasing day by day due to racist attacks against them. Taking to streets a few days ago following the demonstration of a masked group, a bevy of idealistic people surrounded BDP Zeytinburnu district building and made an attempt to attack the Kurdish citizens in the district. One more racist attack was made against Kurds in the district last midnight when a group wearing masks started a march accompanied by slogans in support of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan. The march was followed by the attack attempt of a group on BDP district building. Chanting slogans like “Turkey belongs to Turks”, the group of up to a hundred people wanted to enter the building with the butcher knives they were armed with.

While the angry members of the group could hardly be stopped by police with pepper gas and water cannons before the building, the nationalist and idealist group broke all the glasses of the office with stones and reacted to police for preventing the attack.
