Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaþ and Gültan Kýþanak released a written statement following the meeting with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan about Turkey’s most recent crisis with Syria.

BDP co-chairs stated they had been briefed about technical, diplomatic and political developments after a Phantom plane of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) was shot down in Syrian airspace by Syrian forces.

BDP’s questions on the incident were also answered during the meeting, said co-chairs and noted that BDP officials in the meeting conveyed criticism over Turkish government’s policy on Syria and put forward their proposals as to the solution of the crisis between two countries.

During the meeting at the office of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan, BDP co-chairs reportedly called on the Turkish government to abandon its current policy on Syria and reminded that this policy increased expectations in international area for an intervention in Syria.

It was underlined that the BDP didn’t side with any national and international military intervention in Syria.

BDP officials proposed that the Turkish government should follow the ways and methods of international law instead of responding to the reprisal action.

Co-Chairs also noted that they had asked authorities to keep informing the parliament and political parties concerning the developments in the coming process.
