BDP organized Vigil for Freedom

Preparations are underway for the “Vigil for Freedom” which will be organized by Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Women’s Council in Diyarbakýr and Ankara on 13-14 May. The protest action for which meetings have been held in Diyarbakýr will be joined by a large number of women in the region.

In a statement about the action which will be performed within the scope of “Freedom for Öcalan, end to slaughters” campaign, BDP Diyarbakýr Provincial chair Zübeyde Zümrüt denied the allegations which say that the demonstration has been denied permission by the Minister of Internal Affairs. Giving information about the demonstration as a member of the Preparatory Commission, Zümrüt said the followings referring to the purpose of the action;

“We will organize a two-day Vigil for Freedom in both Diyarbakýr and Ankara to demand freedom for Öcalan as well as the ending of not only conflicts but also the deadlock in the Kurdish question. It is women who pay the biggest price in wars and as women in a war, we will say 'Êdi bes e' [Enough Now] to not to pay the price of this war.”
