The Independent Communication Network (Bianet) has started publishing in Kurdish.

Bianet has been published in Turkish and English since 2001, and has now started publishing in Kurdish as well. The website’s selected news stories and published reports will also be available in Kurdish.

The logo for the Kurdish page was created by Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) Graphic Design Department faculty member Emre Senan. Bianet’s IT specialist Korcan Uğur has taken over coordination in the process of developing content and infrastructure.

Writer Şeyhmus Diken and BİA Project Coordinator Evren Gönül will also be contributing to the Kurdish publication, editors of which will be Murat Bayram and Yusuf Önal.

Evren Gönül pointed out that the political climate is censoring and criminalizing for the sources that are outside the mainstream and especially in the Kurdish language.
