A boat carrying refugees sank in Lake Van, off the Adilcevaz district of Bitlis.

Rescue teams were dispatched to the region. 64 refugees were rescued and 7 refugees lost their lives. The number of dead may increase, the boat capsized due to extraordinary wind recorded.

Bitlis Governor said in a statement that the boat was carrying refugees of various nationalities among which were Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. It added that while approaching the shore, the boat capsized.
