Muş province has 410 thousand residents and more than 220 thousand voters. The number of deputies that can be won in elections is three. The goal of the Green Left Party in Muş is to win all of them in the 14 May elections. The candidates of the Green Left Party are Sezai Temelli, Sümeyye Boz and Serhat Dursun.

In an interview with ANF, Sümeyye Boz said that their aim is to end the one-man regime and to answer the demand for democracy of women, workers and all the oppressed. Boz stated that she and her party would represent students and young people who remain confused because of the repeated system changes in education. “We will become political subjects seeking to retrieve women’s achievements from this fascist government which resorts to intimidation and crackdown to destroy women's struggle. We demand an effective implication of Law No. 6284 to Protect Family and Prevent Violence Against Women, which is of vital importance for us women, to reintroduce the Istanbul Convention, and to protect women against femicides.”

Boz continued: “We are going to eliminate the trustee policies implemented against the elected politicians and mayors. While we continue to grow by forming alliances, we are clearing our way by emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity. With the Kurdish Freedom and Democracy Alliance, we advocate the constitutional recognition of the Kurdish people against the centuries-old policies of destruction and denial, the right to education in mother language and a political status for the Kurds in a democratic, pluralistic and decentralized constitution to secure that the Kurds can live together with other peoples in an equal, free and dignified way.”

Boz emphasized that the government should go, especially in light of the wage-earning parents, the shopkeepers and farmers who brood over making ends meet and providing a future for their children. She added: “We need to get rid of this government so that we can reach a standard of living worthy of human dignity. Furthermore, the realization of local democracy remains essential. I believe that real democracy will not prevail unless local democracy is strengthened. We will take our first democratic step by going to the polls.”

WHO IS SÜMEYYE BOZ?

Boz was born in Muş in 1985. After graduating from the Department of Anthropology at Cumhuriyet University, she was accepted to the master's program of the Social Sciences Institute of Cumhuriyet University. In 2015, Boz worked as a training coordinator at the HDP's Van İpekyolu Municipality’s Women's Policies Directorate. She was dismissed when the government replaced the elected mayors by appointed trustees. After the 2019 local elections, she served as an advisor to the co-mayor of the İpekyolu Municipality and served as the director of Youth and Sports. She was dismissed again in 2019, when the government replaced the elected mayors a second time.
