Buldan: People will get rid of the AKP-appointed trustees

“The governing alliance should know that Kurds have not lost and won’t lose.”

HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan attended the Provincial Congress in Muğla.

In her speech, Buldan said that Turkey is at a crossroads: either fascism or democracy. “The power fears us - said Buldan - because it sees that in Turkey people are coming together and organising. Today the power continues its attacks against the Kurdish people.”

The HDP co-chair added: “The governing alliance should know that Kurds have not lost and won’t lose. Whether we are inside [in prison] or outside - she added - we will continue to struggle.”

Buldan saluted the hunger strike that HDP Hakkari deputy, Leyla Güven, is carrying out in Amed prison against isolation.

"Leyla Güven, - said Buldan - is on hunger strike to protest the aggravated isolation regime imposed for many years in Imrali prison isolation. She is demanding the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish people’s leader Öcalan to be lifted.”

Buldan added that isolation is not only imposed on Öcalan but on the whole society.

“The government has no intention of solving this problem, or so it seems. But this issue is not only an issue concerning our deputy Leyla Güven. This issue is a matter concerning the whole people of Turkey.”

Talking about the European Court of Human Rights ruling on HDP former co-chair Selahattin Demirtas, said: “This ruling [the ECHR ruled to release Demirtas] will constitute a precedent which will affect the situation of all our friends in prison.”

Local Elections

Referring to the local elections, Buldan reiterated that the people will get rid of the state-imposed trustees because the people had voted before and would vote again for their own mayors.
