In a statement published on Saturday, November 7, the Foreign Ministry once again expressed its hypocrisy about the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The CDK-F issued its response.
The CDK-F reacted to the statement by the French Foreign Ministry about the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The CDK-F said: “After decades of fighting for the basic rights of the Kurdish people, flouted by Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq, the PKK has largely demonstrated its legitimacy among the Kurdish people.
When ISIS invaded Shengal and Kobanê in 2014, the PKK was the first Kurdish force to run to the aid of local populations exposed to the worst abuses, and to fight this barbaric organization which terrorized the whole world.”
The CDK-F added: “How can the Quai d'Orsay, on behalf of France, allow itself to qualify the PKK as terrorist a movement which, through its resistance against oppression and obscurantism, has acquired a considerable place in the heart and the spirit of millions of Kurds?”
The statement underlined that “the inability of the Quai d'Orsay to extricate itself from Turkish influence in handling the Kurdish question is seriously damaging France's interests and future. By continuing to label the PKK as a ‘terrorist organization’, the Quai d'Orsay is not contributing to the resolution of the Kurdish question, a question for which France is also historically responsible, through the Sykes-Picot agreements.”
The statement added: “It should be remembered that, while the Quai d'Orsay was determined to treat the PKK as a terrorist organization in order to please Turkey, three militants of the Kurdish movement were cowardly murdered in Paris, on 9 January 2013, by the Turkish intelligence (MIT).
We also remind the Quai d'Orsay that in 2019, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that the inclusion of the PKK in the list of terrorist organizations was not justified. We also remind it of the decision of the Belgian Court of Cassation which ruled in January 2020 that the PKK is not a terrorist organization.”
The statement ended with the following remarks: “Isn't the Quai d'Orsay clear-sighted enough to understand that with such declarations, it will only further weaken France, especially in this extremely tense context marked by the bellicose attacks of the Islamo-fascist Erdogan?
This declaration supports the Erdogan regime which is undeniably behind the current tensions in South Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan). Apart from the KDP led by the Barzani clan, which is actively collaborating with Turkey in its military incursions and expansion into northern Iraq, all Kurdish parties, as well as the Peshmerga, are opposed to a war against the PKK.
Thus, the Quai d´Orsay declaration has no other effect than aggravating the risks of an inter-Kurdish war in the region and strengthening Erdogan’s position which would fuel Islamist radicalism around the world.
It is time to open your eyes, it is time to put an end to this hypocrisy which encourages the Turkish regime in its policy of war and terror, further pushing away the resolution of the Kurdish question.
It is time to remove the PKK from the list of terrorist organizations!”
The CDK-F “once again call on the President of the Republic to take up the Kurdish dossier which has been held hostage by the Quai d´Orsay for too long.”
