Challenging Capitalist Modernity conference in Hamburg postponed

The conference "Challenging Capitalist Modernity" planned for the Easter weekend at the University of Hamburg has been postponed. The university administration made the decision because of the spread of the coronavirus.

The "Network for an Alternative Quest" announced that this year’s conference “Challenging Capitalist Modernity IV: We Want Our World Back!” which had been scheduled for April has been postponed.

The announcement said; “In the middle of the preparations of this year’s conference, we have received the decision of the University of Hamburg to cancel without exception all events with more than 100 participants. This decision was taken in connection with the spread of the coronavirus and is in effect for indefinite time.

This means we cannot conduct the conference at the planned time (10–12 April 2020) and have to POSTPONE it. The new date of the conference is not yet certain.

We are trying to obtain a more specific document with direct reference to the conference that may be helpful for people who want to cancel flight tickets. If we obtain such a document it will be posted on the conference website http://networkaq.net.”

The first conference of the "Network for an Alternative Quest" took place in Hamburg in February 2012. Under the main topic: "Challenging Capitalist Modernity - Alternative Concepts and the Kurdish Awakening", people from many parts of the world came together to discuss radical democracy, confederalism, critique of the social sciences, sociology of freedom, moderate Islam, sexism, democratic modernity, social ecology, power, communalism, the failure of the nation state, capitalism, liberation of women and men and a new socialism. In the context of the postponed fourth conference, special attention will be paid to the main topics of autonomous education and organization.
