Child called on PM to stop detention of children

Twelve-year-old girl, Devran Bozkuþ, called on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan to stop jailing children and teenagers as a respond to increasing arrests of Kurdish minors.

Speaking at the Congress of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Adana Branch, Bozkuþ said followings: “PM firstly said that ‘Kurdish problem is mine problem.’ And then what he did was ordering police to beat people indiscriminately -which means, women, elderly people and children are included. I need to understand, PM is very sensitive about other countries’ children but when it comes to Kurdish children’ problem in Turkey, he turns a blind eye. He assumes himself as a Muslim. I understand that being Muslim is not beating or hurting your religious fellow aside killing them. As I see, PM fails to fulfill the responsibilities to be a true Muslim….

“No one can stop Kurdish people struggling for their identity, language or culture. We are going to voice up for our rights whatever you’ve done. There is no where you can reach by denying our existence in Turkey. This country is our country as well as yours. If you do not have solution for Kurdish problem, you will not be in peace.”
