Kurdish people in West Kurdistan seized power in the city of Derik in northeast Syria, 10 kilometers from the Turkish border.
People in the region took the control of all government institutions in the city as of Saturday morning. Derik has been the third city taken by Kurds in the last three days. Peoples Defense Unions (YPG) took the Kurdish city of Kobani on 19 July and the city of Afrin on the 20th.
