Despite the heavy rain all around Turkey, Civil Friday Prayers have taken place in many squares in Diyarbakýr, Van, Hakkari, Batman, Mersin, Þýrnak, Manisa, Siirt, Urfa and many of these cities districts. The common point of the prayers was police brutality against Kurdish children particularly the latest event occurred in Nusaybin, a district of Mardin. On Wednesday, many children held a protest demonstration and police attempted to disperse them by chasing to mine land on the border. Those children were detained after beaten by police and then released.
During the Civil Friday Prayers it was stated that God will punish everyone who forced children to trespass on the mine land on October 12.
In addition, the Human Rights Association (ÝHD) Mardin Branch also condemned the police intervention and asked the government to dismiss these police officers since they intentionally directed children to the mine land.
Lawyers in Mardin made denouncements against these officers following ÝHD’s protest meeting.
