‘Civil Friday Prayer’ forbidden in Van

Following the consideration of "civil disobedience" actions as “terror acts carried out under the guise of human rights” at the NSC meeting, Van Governor Münir Karaloglu forbade the "Civil Friday Prayer" and the put-up of democratic solution tents.

While Van Governor Münir Karaloglu gave an instruction to the security office for not allowing the "Civil Friday Prayer" following the 7-hour NSC meeting today, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Van Chairman Cüneyt Canis conducted talks with police commanders for withdraw from the Ehmedê Xanî Park in order for not giving rise to tension. Upon police commanders’ expressing the instruction for not permitting civil Friday prayer and Democratic Solution Tents at any point in Van, Canis said that they will perform the Civil Friday Prayer and put up Democratic Solution Tents.

Thousands of people afterwards entered the Ehmedê Xanî Park in Van which has been blockaded by police upon the instruction of Van Governor Münir Karaoglu. Breaking the police blockade, thousands of people took a stand to perform the Civil Friday Prayer.
