Çev-Der President Ali Kalçık, Van Hakkari Medical Chamber president Hüseyin Yaviç and Van Migration Research Center co-chair Hanife Güzel evaluated the closure case against HDP to ANF.
Recalling that political parties are the sine qua non of democracy, Çev-Der president Ali Kalçık said: “Trying to shut down a party that received 6 million votes does not respect any logic. Even if the views of a political party are contrary to those of the party in government, differences and variety are a necessity of democracy. To close a party for thinking differently is called fascism, we do not find this right. This practice is an attack on the will of all Kurds, it actually denies the Kurds."
Van Serhat Migration Research Center co-chair Hanife Güzel reminded that the HDP received 6 million votes and added: “We cannot accept the closure case. AKP, MHP, CHP should not accept any voters. We are worried about democracy and peace, and we urge the government to abandon this stance."
TTB Van Hakkari Medical Chamber president, doctor Hüseyin Yaviç, said: “We will work together with other institutions against the closure of the HDP. They have already tried to close the party in the past. This party represents the will of the people, it is a political party that won the votes of millions of people."
