Sergeant Abdullah Söpçeler, specialist sergeant Zihni Koç and health technician Aytekin Turhan, who were kidnapped by the People’s Defense Force (HPG) on June 9 on Diyarbakýr-Bingöl Highway, called on NGOs in Turkey to act for their release. The call by the kidnapped military was broadcast on friday by RojTv. Responding to the call, the NGOs stated that they are ready to make the ncessary steps for negotiation with the HPG representatives to start.
Metin Bakkalcý, spokesperson of the Peace Assembly of Turkey, condemned the government’s silence and stated that; “Turkey finds itself at a crossroad. We can have some relief if we overcome this problem. The right to life is essential and we are ready to work for this people life. The Prime Minister tries to exercise a policy which does not take into account human life. This war is not a video game. Everyone and each part of society need to be mobilized for this problem.”
MAZLUM-DER President Ahmet Faruk Ünsal, Turkish Physicians’ Union (TTB) President Eriþ Bilaloðlu and Human Rights Association (ÝHD) President Öztürk Türkdoðan said that they will do whatever it takes to ensure the kidnapped people’s freedom, despite the government’s silence.
