A clash broke out between HPG (People's Defence Forces) guerrillas and Turkish soldiers taking part in an operation in Elmalıdere region 30 km to the Karayazı district of Erzurum province.

According to the information obtained from local sources, a clash erupted after a group of Turkish soldiers, deployed on a hill with four military vehicles, opened fire on a group of HPG guerrillas.

People living in the villages in the region rushed to the scene of clashes soon later, forcing the soldiers to retreat to the Elmalıdere military post.

While local people continue to wait in the area, executives of the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) and DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) have reportedly taken their way to the region.
