Clashes continue in South Kurdistan

The offensive attacks of the Iranian army continue within the Iraqi borders. According to PJAK sources the Iranian army has crossed 2km into the Iraqi border near Dole Koke/Zele in the early hours of 16 July and as they crossed they were met by the HRK, the armed guerrilla forces of PJAK (Party of Free Life of Kurdistan). The intense clashes continued until 18 July night.

According to eyewitness accounts and PJAK, during the 3 days of clashes between the Sipah Pastaran Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and HRK guerrilla forces of PJAK in four different sites inside the Iraqi border and/or on border line, up to 180 Iranian Sipah Pastaran soldiers have been killed, including 2 high rank commander. One of them has been named as Colonel Halit Sure. Many soldiers have been wounded. Also during the clashes 7 PJAK guerrillas lost their life and 4 others were wounded.

The HRK guerrilla forces announced that 9 corpses belongs to the Iranian soldiers killed during the clashes, are in their hands.

According to eye witnesses in the cities of Urmiye, Piransehir and Serdes/Iran, Hospitals have been closed to civilians due to the high number of wounded among the Iranian soldiers in three days of clashes. Also, eyewitnesses say that there are soldiers speaking fluent Turkish within the Iranian Army deployed in the area.

As a result of intense katyusa and mortar attacks carried out by the Spah Pastaran Army the Villages of Sinowa and Siniy/Zele/KRG have been also hit. As a result at least one women has been wounded and a number of houses in the villages destroyed.

Today, the Iranian Army is continuing to bomb the areas of Suni, Ali Rese, Dole Koke, Sehit Ayhan, Sehit Harun and high mountains in surrounding areas/Zele/KRG. In the meantime, the Iranian Army is deploying more troops in the Valley of Wesne on the other side of the border within Iran.

Eye-witnesses says that Iranian army is preparing to continue their attacks.
