Clashes getting heavier in Sinjar

Clashes erupted between HPG (People's Defence Forces) guerrillas and ISIS gangs in and around the village of Digure in the Sinjar town of South Kurdistan last night.

According to the information received from the area, ISIS gangs launched an attack targeting a unit of HPG guerrillas deployed in the Digure village last night. Clashes broke out after HPG guerrillas ambushed the gangs, and are reported to have got heavier today.

The HPG sources on the ground told that ISIS launched the attack in order to restrain the humanitarian corridor Kurdish guerrillas opened from the Mount Sinjar into Rojava, West Kurdistan. The village of Digure is remains under the control of HPG guerrillas.

While the figures regarding the outcomes of the clashes remain unknown, HPG is expected to release a detailed statement.
