Clashes have erupted in Cizre (Þýrnak) between police and demonstrators preparing for a rally scheduled for today at 2pm.

The demonstration is organized to condemn the violence against 24 people, thought to be Kurdish guerrillas, whose bodies are lying in Malatya's morgue since 24 October. The demo will also protest against the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Shops are closed today in Cizre in sign of protest. It is understood that police have tried to prevent the march and assaulted the demonstrators.
