Co-mayor from the DBP jailed

Co-mayor of Adıyaman’s Kömür town has been imprisoned.

Following clashes in the countryside of Adıyaman’s Kömür town, which resulted in the death of 4 soldiers last week, Turkish gendarmerie forces launched a detention operation in the region three days ago. During the raids on 12 addresses, 11 people including Kömür town co-mayor Hüseyin Yuka of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) were taken into custody.

Of the 11 detainees, co-mayor Hüseyin Yaka, HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Gerger district co-chair Mahmut Özdemir and Hasan Tunç have been remanded in custody.

Yuka, Özdemir and Tunç have been sent to Adıyaman Prison.
