Cihan Karaman, co-mayor of Hakkari and Remziye Yaşar and Irfan Sarı, co-mayors of Gever who were taken into custody during the police operations in Hakkari city center and Gever on 15 October, were remanded in custody today.

The three co-mayors appeared at Hakkari Courthouse in the morning.

Hakkari Municipality co-mayor Cihan Karaman was remanded in custody and sent to prison at noon. 

Gever Municipality co-mayor Irfan Sarı, was remanded in custody and sent to Hakkari Closed Prison accused of "membership of an illegal organization" and "making propaganda for an illegal organization" based on statements from a secret witness and posts he shared on social media.

The co-mayor of Yüksekova Municipality Remziye Yaşar was remanded in custody and sent to Hakkari Closed Prison.
