Conspiracy against Öcalan condemned in Hewler's Koyê district

The international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was protested in a demonstration in Koyê district of the Hewler city.

Dozens joined a march organised by Tevgera Azadi (Kurdistan Free Society Movement) and RJAK (Kurdistan Free Women's Movement) in Koyê district of Hewler in protest at the 15 February 1999's international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

After staging a march to the Baxê Gişti Park, the crowd observed one minute's silence for the Kurdistan freedom martyrs, followed by a written statement read out by Mihemed Cukil who said the followings:

“The goal of the powers engaged in the conspiracy was to continue the Sykes-Picot Agreement and the Treaty of Lausanne, however this aim was frustrated as result of the resistance and struggle waged by the Kurdish people. In addition to the Kurdish people, their allies and libertarian circles are also supporting Leader Apo by taking part in the demonstrations to condemn the international conspiracy and to demand freedom for Öcalan.”

Speaking on behalf of Tevgera Azadi, Neriman Ehmed said: It is everyone's duty to condemn and protest this dark day. The Kurdish people must take to the streets and hold demonstrations against this dark day in four parts of Kurdistan and wherever they are."

Süleyman Abdulkadir, who spoke later on behalf of PYD (Democratic Union Party), urged all libertarian circles, human rights organizations and the European Union to take steps in order for the liberation of the Kurdish leader.

Gorran (Movement for Change) Representative Birwa Resul also called attention to the importance of Öcalan's freedom, saying: "We as the Gorran Movement salute all those who struggle and work for the freedom of Öcalan. I call upon all the parties in Southern Kurdistan to act for the freedom of the Kurdish leader.
