The Court in Ankara has accepted Hatip Dicle's lawyers request not to count the one year and 8 months prison sentence as the newly elected deputy is currently in prison since 24 December 2009. The lawyers asked the one year and 8 months to be counted off from the prison term beginning on December 2009.

With the Court accepting the lawyers' request there is no obstacle on the way for Hatip Dicle, newly elected deputy in Diyarbakir, to enter parliament. The Election Board would have to comply with the Court ruling, it is widely expected.
