Court rejects appeal against Ipekyolu co-mayors jail sentence
The appeal against the prison sentence given to the co-mayors of Ipekyolu, Van, Şehzade Kurt and Azim Yacan, was rejected.
After the seizure of Ipekyolu municipality by the AKP / MHP, the appeal against the sentence handed out to Ipekyolu Municipality co-mayors, was rejected. Şehsade Kurt had been sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison and Azim Yacan to 7 years and 3 months.
The Regional Court of Appeal, to which the co-chairs' lawyers appealed against the decision, confirmed the decision of the Van 7th Heavy Penal Court and rejected the application by majority vote.
Lawyers will now appeal to the Supreme Court.
