With the participation of the engineers affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Directorate and the Urban Protection and Solidarity Platform Crisis Desk, damage assessment is conducted in the districts of Amed (Diyarbakır), one of the ten provinces affected by the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes cented in Maras on Monday, February 6. While no official statement has been made, some buildings that have been identified as damaged have been sealed.
While at least 50 buildings were heavily damaged in the Huzurevleri neighbourhood, eight damaged buildings have been sealed so far.
In the Pêyas (Kayapınar) district run by a government-appointed trustee, some of the damaged buildings are being evacuated by the district municipal police.
Residents of Sevil Apartment in the Huzurevleri District, which was severely damaged and now sealed, were evacuated from the building without being allowed to take their belongings.
Residents removed from the banned building stated that they learned from the e-government application that their houses were damaged and that they had no place for shelter. It is reported that eight teams are working in the neighbourhood and 50 to 60 buildings would be sealed.
Local municipal police teams revealed that they have sealed eight buildings so far and warned citizens not to remove the eviction notice.
