Davos summit will open in the shadow of protests

The World Economic Forum (WEF) will start in the shadow of the protests for climate.

The 50th World Economic Forum (WEF), also known as the Davos summit, traditionally held in Davos, Switzerland, every year, will be held from 21 to 24 January.

More than 3,000 politicians, businessmen, academics and representatives of social society organizations from 117 countries will attend the summit, as well as some 50 heads of state.

Seven Topics to be discussed

The topics to be discussed relate to "the future of health, how can we save our planet? Beyond geopolitics" and will be debated in more than 400 sessions are expected to be organized under 7 key issues such as "Technology for the good of all, Future of business, Fair Economy, Better business".

It is expected that the crisis in the Middle East, especially the crisis between Iran and the USA, and the developments in Libya, will be discussed by many world leaders.

Climate change, which brought millions on the streets, will have an important place at the summit. A panel is planned with the participation of young activist Greta Thunberg.

Although WEF announces that climate change is one of the important topics of the summit, a large number of people, especially environmentalists, are preparing to hold protests. Actions against WEF, which have been organised in different cities of Switzerland for days, are expected to intensify.

Three-day march against the WEF

Climate activists started a 3-day march from the city of Landquart and will reach Davos, where the World Economic Forum will be held, to draw attention to global warming and environmental pollution.

More than a thousand activists are taking part in the march. In addition, activists announced that on 21 January 21 different events against the WEF will be promoted in many parts of Switzerland.

High Security Measures

The WEF will be the object of high security measures. Davos entrances and exits are already super controlled by police. Over 5,000 military personnel have been deployed in the 11,000-people town for security reasons. Snipers are positioned in many parts of the town and 46 kilometers of airspace has been declared a no-fly zone.
