DBP: AKP responsible for deaths
The DBP Central Executive Council has issued a statement regarding the increasing police violence in recent days, and the serious injury suffered by Central Executive Council (MYK) member Semra Demir in a police attack at the Kobanê border. The DBP stressed that the AKP government was responsible for the violence being meted out to people at the border, not just a few local officials.
The statement noted that the authorities were continuing to attack the parties and patriots that were trying to organise and increase the solidarity with the resistance in Kobanê. It said that while on the one hand the government was preparing a “security law”, on the other the security forces are on the attack, adding: "In these attacks they are not using gas canisters to disperse crowds in accordance with universal rules, but as a means to injure and even kill.”
“The AKP state’s ‘security’ forces opened fire from close range with a gas canister on our MYK member Semra Demir, who was at the vigil in the village of Mehser.” Semra Demir suffered a serious head wound and was taken to hospital, where her condition is grave.
The DBP statement noted that those responsible for the violent attacks on the Kurdish people and the DBP are not a few local officials, but the AKP state itself. “Consequently, they will be responsible for any loss of life. We call on the government to behave responsibly and abandon its continuing violence. We also call on the authorities to investigate and prosecute those who gave the order to fire at Semra Demir and those who carried out the order,” the statement continued.
The statement concluded by calling on everyone to not remain silent and to step up their protests against the ISIS gang attacks.
