DBP: The embargo on Maxmur Camp should be lifted

DBP co-chair Saliha Aydeniz said that the Turkish state was pressing to continue the embargo on Maxmur and demanded that this be lifted.

Saliha Aydeniz, co-chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP), said that the embargo imposed on the people living in Maxmur Camp had no meaning other than serving the Turkish state.

An embargo has been imposed by the Hewlêr administration since 17 July 2019 to the Martyr Rüstem Cudi (Maxmur) Refugee Camp under UN control.

In the camp, where 12 thousand people live, living conditions are getting harder especially given the threat of epidemic.

Speaking to the ANF, co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Saliha Aydeniz, underlined that the Turkish state's hostility towards the Kurdish people no longer knows any limits.

Aydeniz said: "Attacking, killing, invading and hijacking Kurdish gains is a feature in the South, North, West and East. The Southern Kurdistan administration should see the Kurdish hostility of the Turkish state. The embargo, which has been imposed on the Maxmur people, hinders the national values and unity efforts of the Kurdish people. The Turkish state is putting pressure to continue the embargo. This embargo should be lifted."

Aydeniz said that the embargo imposed on the people of Maxmur at the time when they should be concentrated in fighting the coronavirus epidemic as everyone around the world is doing, means keeping the people in an open prison and condemning them to death.

Aydeniz added: "This embargo serves the Turkish state's war policy and anti-Kurdish hostility. Kurdistan is a whole, and the achievement of each part is an achievement for the entire Kurdistan. It is our responsibility to protect this integrity against those who are anti-Kurdish."

Emphasizing that the DBP have the historical responsibility tor reach the Kurdish national alliance, co-chair Aydeniz ended her remarks by saying: "Every problem Kurds face is our problem and responsibility. This is why we cannot accept the embargo on the people of Maxmur."
