Istanbul's Atatürk Airport was rocked by twin suicide attacks at around 22:00 Tuesday evening. One of the suicide bombers targeted the check-in booth in international terminal and the other the main entrance gate, while the third assailant was shot by police while shooting up around. The wounded assailant then blew himself up.
Turkish Prime Minister announced that at least 36 people have died and 147 others were injured in the attacks. Some of those with wounds are in critical condition and the death toll is expected to rise.
According to an AP report based on a Turkish official, the deadly attack claimed the lives of at least 50 people, but the report is yet to be confirmed by official sources.
Bodies of 21 victims were taken to Yenibosna Forensic Medicine Institute at midnight.
Amid intense security measures, the airport was closed to flight traffic till 20:00 Wednesday evening.
Out of the 36 people killed in last night's triple attacks, 27 have been identified.
27 of the total 36 victims have been identified. Names of only 4 among these have been announced so far, which are Çağatay Çöl, Sadık Petek (47), Mehmet Mert (30), Ethem Uzunsoy (43).
